Tasting notes

We didn’t go outside of our normal fruit sources to find less expensive fruit for this wine. Rather, this wine is a result of the sorting process when defining our vineyard designated bottlings. These barrels are the ones that are softer and more approachable early. We think of it as a nice Tuesday wine and it is most often found in a restaurant enjoyed by the glass.

While it is all Willamette Valley fruit, we must designate it as Oregon because we make it in Washington State. In order to utilize the AVA, it has to be produced in the same AVA from where the fruit was grown. But that’s OK! It is a lot of wine for its price, no matter the designation.

This wine is fairly classic, old-world style Pinot Noir, but with a big splash of new world influence. By old-world, I mean it has a savory earthiness to it. However, the floral notes of lilac, violets, and rose petals combined with its round, fruitful palate make it a beautiful combination of the two styles. A creamy mid-palate with nice acidity to balance makes this a beautiful food wine. It has weight, complexity, and balance, all brought together in a harmonious blend.  John Abbott – Winemaker
